Lio did research into what appearance was most appealing to the audience, and after doing several versions this became the final turnaround for Abel. I then look this design and made it into the pixel art character found in the game.

GraphicsGale was my go-to art program for a very long time due to its open-source nature and that it was assessable. However, graphicsgale is extremely outdated at this time, with no new updates since 2016, which isn't great when creating new content.

So for this project, I tried experimenting with different art programs. I tried Pixelorama and Jpixel. Both free and new pixel art software and also both from Itch.io. While both programs are great for what they are, they arent amazing.

and for what I wanted to create they didn't cater to the range of tools I needed. Moreover, the biggest problem with them was that the UI was very clunky and navigating more around big-scale drawings was extremely hard.

Asprite, is one of the biggest pixel art software, it arguable could be considered the industry standard for pixel art projects. With loads of community plugins and resources and a range of different tools and brushes it's currently the best. But it has a price tag :(.
